Strathcona County Councillor Roxanne Carr speaks with fusedlogicTV host Walter Schwabe about Transparency within municipal goverment. In particular, the level of transparency within the current Strathcona County Council processes. Councillor Carr defines terms like “in camera” for Strathcona County residents. She speaks about Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIP) issues around “in camera” requirements, explains Land, Labour or Legal issues that require Councillors to take a meeting into a private session. Councillor Carr explains the process of working with County Administration on how to determine what qualifies as topics and who determines when an issue goes into a private in-camera session. She also goes on to describe Councillor “workshops” that are currently private but wishes they would be public so that residents could attend and learn about how Strathcona County Councillors are representing their wards and constituents.
